These templates follow a simple three-step structure: remind, reassure, and close out. Swap in your store's voice and real details. Anything in [brackets] needs replacing, and anything you cannot honestly claim should be removed.
Every email below assumes the cart block (product image, name, variant, quantity, price) and a button back to checkout are included. If your tool does not insert the cart automatically, add it before anything else.
Email 1: The reminder (about 1 hour)
The shopper was probably interrupted. Keep it short.
Subject options

Hi [first name],
You left a few things in your cart. They're below if you'd like to finish your order.

[Store name]
Why it works: it shows the products, gives one clear action, and offers help without pressure.
Email 2: The reassurance (about 24 hours)
Use this email to remove the most common objection. Pick the one your support inbox hears most.
Subject options
- Quick answers before you order
- Free returns on your [product name]
- How fast will it arrive? Here's the answer
Hi [first name],
Before you decide, a few things shoppers usually ask us:
- Shipping: [real delivery times and costs]
- Returns: [real return window and process]
- Fit / sizing: [link to size guide]
Your cart is still here:

[Button: Complete my order]
Variation for trust: if you have genuine customer reviews, add one short quote about the product in the cart. Do not invent reviews or ratings.

Email 3: The final note (about 72 hours)
Close the loop politely. This is the only step where an incentive may make sense, and only if your margins allow it.
Subject options
- Last reminder about your cart
- Should we keep your cart?
Hi [first name],
This is the last reminder about the items in your cart.
[Cart items]
[Optional: Use code [CODE] for [real offer] until [date].]
[Button: Finish checkout]
If something stopped you from ordering, reply and tell us. We read every message.
What to customize first
- From name: your store name, not a person's name the shopper does not know.
- The objection in email 2: use real questions from your customers.
- The offer in email 3: decide on purpose. Read discounts in recovery emails first.
- Brand look: logo, colors, and a clean single-column layout that reads well on phones.
Rules every template should follow
- Stop the series as soon as the shopper buys.
- Do not claim items are reserved or selling out unless they are.
- Include a visible unsubscribe link in every marketing email.
- Test the checkout button with a multi-item cart.
Use these in EmailSync
EmailSync creates this 3-step series for you at 1 hour, 1 day, and 3 days, with the shopper's cart items already in each email and an exit when they purchase. Edit the copy in the visual builder, A/B test a second version of any email, and see which Shopify orders each email brought back.
