Whop started with digital products and communities, but it is pushing into ecommerce fast. Sellers are moving product lines from Shopify for lower friction at checkout, more payment methods and the Whop marketplace. Before you move, it helps to know what Whop handles today, what you handle yourself, and which emails fill the gaps.
What Whop handles
- Payments. Whop is the merchant of record on Whop Payments. Cards start at 2.7% + $0.30 for domestic payments.
- Payment methods. Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Cash App, ACH, crypto and local methods such as iDEAL and SEPA appear automatically when eligible. Approved sellers can also offer Klarna, Afterpay and other buy now pay later options. See buy now, pay later on Whop.
- Checkout links you can share anywhere, including your current site.
What you handle
Whop's own ecommerce guide says it is still improving support for physical products. Today the recommended setup is:
- Create a product with a one-time price (or recurring for refills and subscriptions).
- Use custom fields on the pricing option to collect shipping address, size, color and anything else you need.
- Use webhooks, for example through Zapier, to send orders to your fulfillment: a 3PL, a shipping tool or a spreadsheet.
That works for focused product lines. If you sell hundreds of variants with live shipping rates, you may want to keep Shopify for the catalog and use Whop for specific offers.

The emails an ecommerce store on Whop needs
Shopify sends order and shipping emails for you. On Whop, you need to make sure buyers hear from you at each step.
1. Order confirmation with details. Whop sends a receipt. Add your own email with what happens next: when it ships, what they ordered, and how to reach you.
2. Shipping and delivery updates. Trigger from your fulfillment tool when a tracking number exists. Fewer "where is my order" tickets means fewer disputes.
3. Post-delivery check-in. A few days after delivery, ask how it went and how to use the product. Good for reviews, better for preventing refunds.
4. Replenishment. For consumables, email before they run out with a link to reorder, or offer a subscription plan.
5. Abandoned checkout. Use our abandoned checkout email sequence for buyers who start but do not pay.
6. Failed payments for subscription products. See Whop failed payments and cancellations.
7. Win-back for past buyers who have not ordered in a while. Our win-back email flow has templates.
Moving your Shopify customers
Your customer list is worth more than your theme. WhopMail can import Shopify customers and connect to Whop, so past buyers and new Whop buyers end up in one list. Whop events such as payments and failed payments start flows automatically. For the full move, see how to migrate from Shopify to Whop.
Keep order value up
Shopify stores often rely on post-purchase upsell apps. On Whop, our sister product OneClick Upsell adds order bumps and one-click upsells charged to the same card. Their guide to Shopify Payments alternatives covers the fee side of the move.
